It is a lovely cute story, it's a high school bl romance and with a slice of life it's cute and it's not rushed it's a slow burn but it's not the boring slow burn kind of story No it's rather the realistic slow burn like the mc and ml step by step figuring out about each other's feelings it's wholesome and super cute you won't feel bored if you like cute wholesome stories.
the art style is so good and cute the characters are just cute there's no toxic at all it's just love in high school and if you where looking for smvt you won't find any in here it's shounen ai anyway I highly recommend this but since it's not completed I would rather read it when it is actually completed that way it will be better.
Trigger warning for suicide.
Many people would naturally view this series with skeptism upon reading the synopsis. Not only does it sound nuts. But there's the controvercial part. As someone who normally has a huge distaste for teacher-student relationships, I implore you to give it a shot anyway.
TJHK to me, despite the premise, is less about the relationship between a student and a teacher, and more about the relationship between Mikoto and Jin. Not what they are, but who they are. And that makes all the difference. The two are inexplicably home when they're together. As natural as a person valuing family over occupation. 2 years from ch 1 and the law won't matter. After seeing them, I refuse to say they should never be together over that. Family is family.
Anyways. Now that my take on the controversy is out of the way - I highly recommend this series.
I read a lot of shoujo series but once you've covered the most popular ones, it gets tricky finding ones that stand out. Ones with unique enough characters for memorability. This is one of them. The series is extremely self-aware. It plays on its premise at every turn - combing dark humour whilst making fun of all shoujo-romance tropes known to man. And without spoiling, it doesn't have all the annoying things you would expect from a plot like this.
On that same token, there's a lot of drama. After all, suicide is a constant topic. Ironically though, for something miserable and constantly present, it's not actually overbearing. Not at all. Because this drama dances hand in hand with the comedy. The mangaka carefully keeps the deeper emotions beneath the surface, while also letting it sprinkle above just enough to keep readers caring about the characters. She has such a strong control on this. The way she does it shouldn't work. Yet it does. So you repeatedly find yourself touched while smiling all at once. And that, is something incredibly special.
